Using Computers for Documentation

I uOutcome: Communciation • children begin to recognise patterns and relationships and the connections between them. Learning • Children follow and extend their own interests with enthusiasm, energy and concentration se photos as my main tool for recording observations, the saying, a picture can tell a thousand words is so true.  I use the photos in learning stories, as well as a form of documentation of skills, social interactions, learning interests etc.

I love picasa, I can use it to categorise children’s photos using it’s facial recognition,  I can add tags that link traditional learning domains or the EYF outcomes. I can create collages of children, and add comments down the bottom. This is an example:

This picture has the caption underneath when printed out  “Outcome: Communication • children begin to recognise patterns and relationships and the connections between them. Learning • Children follow and extend their own interests with enthusiasm, energy and concentration”

Another program that I use for reflections, or social interactions is Comic Life.
